If I could start over, I always joke that I would be a private investigator.

He: As if this is a proper justification for watching so much murder porn.

I feel that I am pretty observant — especially when I’m on a walk with my neighbor. If the cars don’t belong, I spot them immediately. I notice if someone has made improvements to their house. And I try to look at clues to figure out who is moving into the neighborhood.

He: Or does this just make you a busy-body?

It all started with the show “Snapped” because I like to try and solve the cases. (That, and most of my reading tends to be mysteries or horror.). I’m always shocked that people think they can get away with murder. I’m pretty sure that most of the time there is little thought involved. Their anger or passion takes over and then they scramble to cover it up. Anyway, I found the Investigation Discovery (ID) Network and I watch it whenever I get a minute to sit down or when I’m working in the kitchen.

At our “Stranger Things” watch party, I found out that a friend of ours also binges the shows on ID and she and her husband call it “murder porn.”

He: Apparently “murder porn” is already in the public consciousness and extremely popular with middle-aged people. Perfect. The definition via Urban Dictionary: “Crime shows that depict real events, usually homicides. Especially popular with middle-aged married people.”

I am such a fan that I’m seriously considering joining the ID Network wine club. It will be fun to find food to pair with Joe Kenda’s “My My My” wine. The show that I am looking forward to watching in 2018, is the three night Jodi Arias special.

He: Yeah. But you should probably consider branching out to other networks next year! What am I doing?

10) Blood Relative — Things get ugly when families snap. It gives a whole new meaning with blended families.

9) Deadly Women — This particular variety of murder porn makes Brent really nervous.

He: And why shouldn’t it? The vast majority of these deal with them “offing” their spouses.

8) Disappeared — These can be really sad if they are still unsolved. I can’t imagine how hard not-knowing would be.

7) Nightmare Next Door — It’s always someone they know and trust. Yikes!

6) Fear Thy Neighbor — I am so glad that I like my neighbors. Except the people across the street with the Schlitterbahn-sized water feature.

5) Paula Zahn — I like her. And she has great hair.

3) Drew Peterson: An American Murder Mystery — I remember when this happened, but the details were fuzzy. In this “An American Murder Mystery” episode, they cover all details and show news coverage from when it happened.

2) Homicide Hunter — It stars retired police department detective Joe Kenda. I love him, especially when he says, “my, my, my.”

1) Horror at the Cecil Hotel — This was so creepy. And the hotel still exists, but you will never count me as a guest!
